Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.407

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the gothic Cape May house. The photo that I will be using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on an 8x10 canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

My efforts have been directed at the lawn and right side of the painting. There are a number of changes. Note that the flag is now complete. Below, the flagpole now casts a long shadow on the lawn along with the conically shaped bush to its left. Accordingly, that bush has its lit section to the left. Across the path, the tree has its trunk and somewhat more detail above. Beyond the tree is a lit section of lawn far to the rear of the yard. The painting is now done.

The current and final state of the painting is seen directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.406

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the gothic Cape May house. The photo that I will be using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on an 8x10 canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

At the outset, note that the camera has dulled the colors of the present state photo seen in the second following photo. I did manage to get a fair amount of work done this week. It would have been even more but I had a problem with a small drop of oil that managed to apply itself to the sky. It took several layers of paint to minmize its appearance. It is still present but now appears as a small variation in the sky, much like many others on the canvas. Sigh.

As to actual progress, the sky has been completely repainted, multiple times at least partly courtesy of the aforesaid oil drop. I had intended to repaint the sky, just not 4 or 5 times. Moving on, the structure to the far right rear, it is now completed. It has been painted in duller versions of the colors seen on the main house. Below, the car is now complete, with reflections added to the hood, sides and glass. To the far left rear, I've begun the structure seen in the photo. Above, I've added a layer of green paint to what will become a tree at some point.

The current state of the painting is seen directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.405

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the gothic Cape May house. The photo that I will be using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on an 8x10 canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

There are many changes for this week. The house has had virtually every element refined. Starting at the top, the roof and chimney (slightly oversized) have both received another layer of paint. (Or several in the case of the chimney.) I hadn't planned on making everything blue but it seems to work. The roof has a slightly blotchy surface, indicative of some texture. The chimney has the same blue used as shadow offset with gray for the lit areas.

Moving downward, all windows have been finished, once again in various versions of the same blue. I've attempted to make a heavier line toward the right side of the windows, indicating the direction of the lighting. Moving on to the porch roof, the same color of the upper roof is offset by the highlighted triangular section. The porch below is in shadow composed of a mixture of the same blue and gray seen above. I've added the details of the porch posts and finished the bay window. Finally, I've completed the siding surrounding it all with a lightened version of the same blue. Note the flagpole out front, still waiting for completion of the flag.

The current state of the painting is seen directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.404

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the gothic Cape May house. The photo that I will be using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on an 8x10 canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

There are a number of elements that have received attention this week. I started by adding some dark paint to the area below the porch roof. This is the first layer of what will be the shadowed area. Just above, I've added the first layer of paint to the flag. I've carried the same gray to the flagpole. Note that the upper roof and chimney have some of the same paint. I've also added more green to the lawn and tree foliage. I did start the tree trunk but it became lost within the green paint. Or so it seems to my color blind eyes. Finally, The car now has its grille, headlights, windshield and tire/rim. The highlights have yet to come.

The current state of the painting is seen directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.403

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the gothic Cape May house. The photo that I will be using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on an 8x10 canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

This week was a bit more productive than the prior week. I've addressed the left side of the house, painting both the narrow bit of side wall and the bay window. Note the rear section of roof seen at the top edge. Out in front there has been much progress. The house now appears in blue. The porch has been given some detail and the roof areas have received some additional paint. The flagpole makes its first appearance. Both the house next door and the path have received their first applications of thin watery paint. In the extreme foreground, the car has gotten some detail and definition.

The current state of the painting is seen directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
