Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.585

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be starting with an entirely new painting. The photo I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 6x6 inch canvas.

Once again, I'm attempting to paint the Grand Canyon. My prior efforts have yielded rather poor results but I'm determined to try again. This time I'm using a different strategy. Yes, one needs a painting strategy when attempting such a subject.

I began with a pencil grid upon which I sketched in the shapes of the large elements. I'm not attempting super fine detail here. I'm going for an image that captures the overall look of the photo. For next week some actual acrylic paint.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.584

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Nyack, New York 2nd Empire Victorian. The photo I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

There are a number of changes for this week's cycle. Starting at the top, I've revised the roof to the far rear. The farthest eaves were at an angle and now sit level. The roof itself has been overpainted. Also revised is the tree directly behind the house. Below, I've completed the driveway and walk. The bushes along the driveway have been completed in a very simple fashion. There are now lit and shadowed portions. To the far left, the house next door has been revised. The painting is now finished.

The current and final state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have a new painting to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.583

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Nyack, New York 2nd Empire Victorian. The photo I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

For this week's cycle I've finally started to address the driveway and garden. For the driveway, walk and street I've mixed a warm brownish color. The street and driveway have a bit of gray as well and appear just a bit darker, consistent with the photo. I was putting off the color choice but this seems to work fairly well. In the street I've added the shadow made by the curb directly in front of the house. As to the garden, it will need more work but the edges have been cleaned up a bit. Finally, to the far rear, the tree and fence have been revised. Both the tree and fence are now better delineated.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.582

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Nyack, New York 2nd Empire Victorian. The photo I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

Most notable amongst this week's changes are the windows on the lit/right side of the house. I've added the trim in white and glass in blue. I've also done the same with the door to the in the recessed section. Note the arched window above the door. I've also added another layer of paint to the driveway.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
