Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.537

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Grand Canyon. I am using the photo seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on an 10x10 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

For this week's cycle I've begun to add some of the details seen in the original photo. Note the shadows now seen on the upper portions of the two main buttes. These shadows define the broken structure of the rocks. I've also begun the shadowed lower reaches. (The blue area.) These lower areas will need a good deal of further work. There is still much to do.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.536

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Grand Canyon. I am using the photo seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on an 10x10 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I’ve decided to go a bit more dramatic with the contrast. The lower portions of the rocks will be in deep shadow. As such, a deep blue now covers those lower areas as well as the far shadowed areas. There will be some details in those shadows in next week’s cycle.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.535

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Grand Canyon. I am using the photo seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on an 10x10 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I have continued to refine the various elements of the scene. Orange now dominates but that will change in a future cycle. Note that the tips of the two central peaks have been left in the earlier bright yellow and shadows have been added. All shadows are now a mottled deep blue. It's a big change but there is much left to do including that tree in the lower right.

The current and final state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.534

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Grand Canyon. I am using the photo seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on and 10x10 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I've added some color to the canvas. All of the various elements now appear in colors that roughly approximate what they will look like down the road. Now I can continue to add layers with detail, and slowly cover those grid lines.

The current and final state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more to show you next week. See you then.
