Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.572

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Second Empire Victorian. I am using the photo seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 6x6 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

For this week's cycle, I've focused most of my efforts on the shaded portions of the house. I've now completed all those nice details that make a Victorian so interesting. The porch now frames the front door and window. The railing extends down the steps and to the ground. All other windows on that side have been painted in a similar fashion as well as the various overhangs. Finally, the roof has been given another layer of paint.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.571

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Second Empire Victorian. I am using the photo seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 6x6 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

For this week's cycle, I've painted the various elements of the house in colors that will carry through to the final result. To the left, the lit brick portions are now seen in a lovely shade of brown. Between them, the two story bay window is seen in a pale yellow, a shade also seen on the lit edge of the front porch. The roof's lit portions are a lighter brown. The remaining sections, all in shadow, are blue. You can now see where I'm going with this one. It is a perfect road map. There is much more yet to come.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.570

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Second Empire Victorian. I am using the photo seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 6x6 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I continued by applying thin layers of paint to the various elements of the painting. The sky and grass have received blue and green respectively. On the structure, I've added some thin initial layers that begin to indicate shadow and light. The lit portions are yellowish and the shadow indicated by blue. I like to delineate things and see how they look. All is well so far.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.569

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be starting an entirely new painting. I am using the photo seen directly below. The house is in Goshen, New York, a historic town in the Hudson Valley. It is a circa 1875 Second Empire Victorian. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 6x6 inch canvas.

I started with my usual pencil grid. Utilizing the grid, I was able to sketch the house in pencil. Once I was satisfied, I used some thin paint to go over the sketch.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.568

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Nyack, New York painting. I am using the photo seen directly below. The scene is Main street in Nyack, New York, a historic town on the Hudson River. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 6x6 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

This week's changes are concentrated at street level. To the left side, I've now completed the shadowed jeep. The street itself has received another layer of paint on the lane going away from the viewer. Across the street, the SUV has now been completed, also in blue. Finally, the trees have recieved shadows and highlights. The painting is now completed.

The current and final state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
