Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.716

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Pocomoke City, Maryland painting. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 6x6 inch canvas.

When last seen the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that timme I have continued to work on the painting.

Lots of changes have occurred for this week's cycle. Note the color change of the shadowed areas. The windows have been revised and details in the tops of the gables. The chimneys now appear in a brick color.

Since that timme I have continued to work on the painting.

I've now painted over the shadows, roof and chimneys. The shadows are far too dark and will be revised yet again, but the porch roof is now straight. The green has been overpainted as well.

Since that timme I have continued to work on the painting.

I have made a number of changes for this week's installment. The foliage has been revised both in front and back of the house. I've also begun the front steps. The building next door has received some paint. Finally, the siding has been overpainted but will likely change again.

Since that timme I have continued to work on the painting.

For this week's cycle I have added shadows to the porch and under the various gables. I have also added yellow to the siding more of which will be added to the right rear. Note that these are preliminary layers/colors and will change by the time I am done.

Since that timme I have continued to work on the painting.

I've now added some preliminary paint for the sky, foliage, lawn and various paved areas. Note the brick wall at the sidewalk. Next week I'll have some siding and shadows to reveal.

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be starting a new painting. It is a house in Pocomoke City, Maryland. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 6x6 inch canvas.

I started with a pencil grid on both a print of the photo and the canvas. In this way I was able to transfer the elements to the canvas in an accurate pencil sketch. I added a little blue paint to get things started.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.696

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the old double-turreted Victorian. The photo that I am using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 8x10 inch canvas.

When last see the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

There are several changes for this week's cycle. I've revised that propane(?) tank. Next to it the boardwalk has been darkened just a bit as well as the shadow and roof. Finally, there are those windows, now complete with some, but not too much, detail. And with that I am done.

The painting is now completed.

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the old double-turreted Victorian. The photo that I am using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 8x10 inch canvas.

When last see the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I've now revised virtually every part of the painting. Note the tip of the turret standing above the roof as well as the chimney. The lit siding contrasts nicely with the revised and now darkened windows. The lawn and the foliage far to the rear along with the building's shadow make for a now suitable site. Last but not least, the boardwalk out in front.

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the old double-turreted Victorian. The photo that I am using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 8x10 inch canvas.

I've now painted over all the siding. There is a consistency to these colors and a nice contrast. For now the windows are all gray. Eventually there will be more differentiation between lit and shadowed windows. Finally, the boardwalk out in front has received a little paint.

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the old double-turreted Victorian. The photo that I am using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 8x10 inch canvas.

When last see the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

I've now painted the lit siding in a preliminary yellow. To the right side the building's shadow helps to place the structure in context. To the far rear the distant shrubs are seen in a preliminary blue/green. All of these changes further the depth of the scene. I am pleased so far.

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the old double-turreted Victorian.  The photo that I am using is seen directly below.  I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 8x10 inch canvas.

I've continued to add to the house for this week's cycle. This is why I like heavily shadowed structures. I've painted those shadows and the result is dramatic. The house now has a striking 3 dimensional appearance. You can now clearly see where I am going with this. More for next week.

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be starting a new painting. I am putting aside the Gothic style house for the moment. I will come back to it. I will be painting the back of an old double-turreted Victorian seen in Virginia. The photo that I am using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 8x10 inch canvas.

I started with a pencil grid on both a print of the photo and the canvas. In this way I was able to transfer the elements to the canvas in an accurate pencil sketch. I've overpainted the lines of my sketch.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.689

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the eastern shore Virginia Gothic house. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 6x6 inch canvas.

When last seen the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

This week brings the painting much closer to the look that I had hoped for. The darkness of the porch provides a nice contrast to the gray siding. This is aided by the newly painted steps. Up at the roof edge, the white trim of the photo makes its first appearance. The signature gothic window is now dark as well. I'm please so far.

I didn't get done what I would have like but there is some progress. Note the upper level siding and window trim. Above, I've added the trim below the roof. Below, the telephone pole shadow now carries to the ground.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

For this week's cycle I have started to fill in the back and foregrounds. These are all preliminary colors but serve to help me see where I'm going. Note the sky, lawn and foliage. I've also outlined the wires and lines of the building. A fair start.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.684

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Chincoteague shingle style house painting. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 6x6 inch canvas.

When last seen the appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

There are a number of small changes for this week's installment. Out in front I have revised the two Adirondack chairs. They now appear in a pleasing blue that is far closer in appearance to those in the photo. Shadow has also been added. Just to the right of the chairs I have made the white portion of the foundation gray. The white wasn't working well. The house next door has also been revised, now with a softer appearance. Finally, I have straightened the second story roof on the far left. Just one of those little bothersome details. The painting is now finished.

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Chincoteague shingle style house painting. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 6x6 inch canvas.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

Just a few changes for this cycle. On the far left I have added to the house next door. I'm not totally happy with the window but it's a good start. On the lower right I've added the small section of driveway. Finally, I've added the adirondack chairs out in front. This is only a start. They will need much more work but that's for next week.

This week I will be continuing with the Chincoteague shingle style house painting. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 6x6 inch canvas.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

There are many changes for this week's cycle. Under the eaves of the roof I've added the rafter ends. On the right side I have revised the two bushes. Below, the fence has also been completed. On the left, I've revised the house next door as well as the shadowed bush. Finally, I've overpainted the lawn.
