Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.450

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the 1954 Hudson ruin. The photo that I will be using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on an 8x10 gallery-wrapped canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time, I have continued to work on the painting.

There are many changes this week. Most notable is the rust now seen flourishing around the body of the car. I was careful to follow the pattern seen in the original photo and not go overboard. It actually took a bit of doing to mix the right color but worked out well. Next up are the side windows, now lighter in color. Also along the side, door handles make their first appearance. Below, the chrome spear now graces the side of the body.

And then there is the ground beneath the car. I actually had a bit of a crisis about this. Since it was last seen, the ground has gone through several versons/generations. None was very good. I almost abandoned the painting. While not particularly happy with the current version, it is by far the best of them. I will leave it, a least for now. It is simple with only traces of highlighted underbrush. It serves as a good foil for the much lighter-in-color car. I'd like to know your opinion on this. I've also started on the growth to the far rear.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.449

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the 1954 Hudson ruin. The photo that I will be using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on an 8x10 gallery-wrapped canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time, I have continued to work on the painting.

There are a number of changes, some of which might not be readily apparent. Most notable is the right side taillight. It was placed too low in the original sketch. Note the distance between the taillight on each side from the bumper below. The right side is too low. I have now raised the entire right side fender to the appropriate level. Further changes include the window surrounds along the side of the car. Additional attention was given to the distant hood, broken door and shadow beneath the car. Finally, the windows were repainted but will likely change once again for next week.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.448

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the 1954 Hudson ruin. The photo that I will be using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on an 8x10 gallery-wrapped canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time, I have continued to work on the painting.

There are a number of changes for this week's cycle. I've added the contrasting roof seen in the photo. At the back edge, I've added the chrome pillar accent and the rear window surround. The window surround will probably receive further subduing. It is still just a bit too bright. Moving down the trunk, I've added paint to the taillights and chrome surrounds. Down at the bumper, I've slightly shifted the color of the shadowed areas. They now appear less blue. Further changes are seen in the license plate nacelle, driver's side rear wheel and the rear window itself. I'm not sure if I like the rear window but it will stay as it is for now.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.447

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the 1954 Hudson ruin. The photo that I will be using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on an 8x10 gallery-wrapped canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time, I have continued to work on the painting.

I started by adding a layer of blue paint to the sky. This will change but provides a starting point. Below the sky, the car has seen a number of changes. The first layer of paint has been applied to the body. Hopefully, future layers of paint will come closer to the color seen in the photo. Note that the bumper has had highlights and shadows added. I'm not quite happy with the bumper yet but it's a start. Finally, one taillight has been painted red just because I couldn't resist.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
