Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.641

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Red Canyon painting. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I've concentrated my efforts on the rocks for this week's cycle. They now appear with more refined cracks and highlights. Note that the remaining portions appear with a mottled overpaint of the prior week's solid red-orange. I've now gotten things to a state where I can concentrate on the other elements. That will be for next week's cycle.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.640

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Red Canyon painting. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I've overpainted much of the canvas for this week's cycle. Note the revised butte, now with both a new color and more crack detail. I am attempting to convey the feel of the various cracks without painting each one. As such I am painting the larger ones with a reduced amount of small ones along the top. I spent some time looking at the photo and arrived at what is seen in the photo below. More would likely be too much. Finally, the trees are now more of a greenish color.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.639

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Red Canyon painting. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I have continued to refine the painting. Starting at the top, I have overpainted the sky with another layer of blue paint. At the top of the butte (now overpainted in another layer), I have delineated some of the shadows/cracks seen in the photo. I've also added some of the highlights in an ochre shade. Finally, the trees now appear in blue in preparation for green highlights.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.638

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Red Canyon painting. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I have now completed the preliminary layer of paint. The butte appears in brown, as does the foreground. Note the dark lines which deliniate separations and cracks. The foliage is green, of course. Next week some solid paint.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
