Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.581

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Nyack, New York 2nd Empire Victorian. The photo I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

There are some big changes for this week's cycle. Most prominently, there are those porch posts. Those in the light now appear in white. Note the connecting railing, also in white. Shadowed porch posts appear in blue as does the roof of the second story balcony. Finally, the shadowed front windows have been refined and detailed.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.580

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Nyack, New York 2nd Empire Victorian. The photo I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

You'll have to look closely to see this week's changes. Starting at the top, I've added paint to the lit side of the tower roof. Note that the right facing partial window is now in yellow. I've done the same treatment to the small dormer window on the left side of the house. I've added blue paint to the front porch, balcony porch just above, right side shadow and the two bushes out front. Note the front porch ceiling. Finally, I've added some green paint to the lawn and two front bushes.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.579

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Nyack, New York 2nd Empire Victorian. The photo I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

There is lots of progress for this week's cycle. Starting at the top, the mansard roof has recieved both lit and shadowed sections. This continues below where lit areas mirror the yellow seen in the original photograph. I'm attempting to maintain the main features of the shadowed areas. I'm pleased with things so far.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.578

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Nyack, New York 2nd Empire Victorian. The photo I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I began to fill in the various elements using thin layers of paint. Note the yellow on the lit portion of the house and shaded blue portion. Green behind and at the base frames things nicely. I'm not yet sure how the pavement and driveway will appear. I'll figure that out as we go along.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.577

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be starting an entirely new painting. I am using the photo seen directly below. It is another 2nd Empire Victorian, this one in Nyack, New York. Well, at least the tower is 2nd Empire. It actually looks like a bit of a mongrel. It stands on a slope overlooking the Hudson river. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

I started with my usual grid and pencil sketch. I then added some blue paint to my sketch. It's a good start.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
