Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.498

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be starting an entirely new painting. Seen below is my own photo of Victorian house that I took this past October. It is of a type seen in many places across America. I intend to paint it and include the 2 cars as well. I will be using my usual acrylics on an 8 by 8 inch gallery-wrapped canvas.

I started with a pencil grid on both the canvas and a print of the photograph. Then I made a sketch on the canvas using the grid as a reference point. In doing this, I was able to make a fairly faithful sketch of the photo. Note both the sketch and grid in the photo seen directly below. (Next week some actual paint.)

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.497

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Boeing C-97 in my extended detour from the Cape May 2nd Empire Victorian house. I will be using my usual acrylics on an 10 by 10 inch gallery-wrapped canvas. I will be using the photo seen directly below.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time, I have continued to work on the painting.

Starting at the top, I've finally painted in the sky. It remains a blue similar to the prior color but the pencil grid is now finally gone. Going down to the left side wing, I've repainted the engine intake highlights. They now appear less of a bright white. Below the wing, I've narrowed the shadow. The prior version was a bit too wide. Finally, the fuselage shadow and surrounding areas have been lightly repainted. The previous version of the fueselage shadow had too much of a pattern to it.

The current and final state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have a new painting to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.496

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Boeing C-97 in my extended detour from the Cape May 2nd Empire Victorian house. I will be using my usual acrylics on an 10 by 10 inch gallery-wrapped canvas. I will be using the photo seen directly below.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time, I have continued to work on the painting.

I'll start at the bottom. The shadow and surrounding ground have both been heavily revised. I've had to create a shadow that might be appropriate as the photo offered only a shaded foreground. I've also lightened those colors a bit. The front landing gear has been revised as well. Note that the base is flattened to suggest that the plane has been sitting in place for some time. Above, both engines a propellers have been repainted. The propeller to the right has been reshaped for accuracy. Finally, blue hills have been added to the far rear. I'll be finished for next week's installment.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.495

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Boeing C-97 in my extended detour from the Cape May 2nd Empire Victorian house. I will be using my usual acrylics on an 10 by 10 inch gallery-wrapped canvas. I will be using the photo seen directly below.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time, I have continued to work on the painting.

I've made a number of changes for this week's cycle. Starting at the top, I've revised the window glass once again. Note that the 3 panes to the right are slightly lighter as they are in the photo. Making them with too light did not work well and I brought them back to their current state with only slight contrast compared to the other panes. Below, I've darkened the right wing and added the propeller. The prop will need further work to make it look right. On the left wing I've revised the shape of the engine air intake below the propeller. This too will need further revision to add the highlights around the opening. Below, I've revised the landing gear and darkened the ground. Both will need further work as well. Note that this old plane is sitting in a boneyard. I will attempt to make that clear before we're done.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
