Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.611

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Main Street, Cold Spring, NY painting. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I've begun to apply paint, carefully delineating the various elements. Note the overhang and pointed turret just beyond. The trees look silly but they will change. The perspective will improve, especially for the path.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.610

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be starting a new painting. It is a scene on Main Street in Cold Spring, NY. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

I started with a pencil grid on both a print of the photo and the canvas. In this way I was able to transfer the elements to the canvas in an accurate pencil sketch. Things are off to a good start.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below. Next week there will be some actual paint.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.609

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Cold Spring, NY scene. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

The changes are many for this week's cycle. Out in back, the trees (Yes, those are trees and not mountains.) have been overpainted with shaded and lit areas. Note that the bushes out in front have been treated similarly. On top, I've revised the left side roof just a bit. Below that, I've darkened the shadowed left side of the house. Note that the window surrounds have been revised to show a shadows on their respective left sides and bottoms and not the former uniform surrounding line. I've also completed the porch and added some yellow to the lit portions of the house. Finally, the brown car now has the side marker light it needed. The painting is now done.

The current and final state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have a new painting to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.608

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Cold Spring, NY scene. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

There are a number of changes for this week's cycle, all centered on the house. Up on top, the roof has emerged from shadow to become a nice brown color. It was only after a careful review of the photo that I saw the need for this change. Coming down a bit, I've painted the shadow line around the windows. This will change a bit before I'm done. Out in front I've added the front steps and railing as well as the understructure of the porch.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
