Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.520

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the large gabled Victorian. The photo I am using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on an 10 by 10 inch gallery-wrapped canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I made some limited progress this week. I've continued to move toward the foundation of the house. Paint has been applied to the shadowed portions of the porch. Below that, the foundation has received some paint as well. The colors are a bit odd as the paint was rather thin. Some red was added to the brick bay window foundation. Finally, I've begun the foliage on either side of the house. I still need to finalize the location of some elements. After that, I can add heavier layers of paint.

The current state of the painting is seen directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week.  See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.519

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be starting a new project.  The photo I am using is seen directly below.  I will be using my usual acrylics on an 10 by 10 inch gallery-wrapped canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I envisioned this piece as a pattern of primary colors. A rough pattern of red, blue and yellow will provide the basis for the house. It may not work out that way but that was my intention. To that end, I've added a layer of solid paint colors to much of the house. This is a bit of an experiment. Hopefully it will all work out. For next week I will continue to refine the image.

The current state of the painting is seen directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week.  See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.518

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be starting a new project.  The photo I am using is seen directly below.  I will be using my usual acrylics on an 10 by 10 inch gallery-wrapped canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I've started to add watery versions of the colors that will eventually become permanent. Well, that pink foundation will change. You can start to see how the blue shadows define the upper portion of the house. This will hopefully be a somewhat playful pattern of primary colors, red, blue and yellow. We'll see how that works out and how much adjustment is needed. Much more next week.

The current state of the painting is seen directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week.  See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.517

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be starting a new project. The photo I am using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on an 10 by 10 inch gallery-wrapped canvas.

If you've been here for a while you might have seen this one before. It was my project last summer on a tiny 4x4 inch canvas. The intent at that time was to see if I could actually get this on such a small canvas. I did but nuance was not in great abundance. Now I'm going to revisit it and use colors of a rather primary nature. Adjustments will be made as needed.

I started with a pencil sketch using my now customary grid for placement purposes. This system has worked very well for me. Some blue paint went on the edges because I invariably leave small spots of white at the edges. Next week I will pattern and color for you.

The current state of the painting is seen directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.516

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the brick Victorian house.  The photo I am using is seen directly below.  I will be using my usual acrylics on an 10 by 10 inch gallery-wrapped canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

Starting on the lawn, there are now lit and shadowed portions.  In the midst of the shadowed portion there is now a path leading off to the left side.  Behind the building, the foliage in the distance has been repainted but remains a lighter shade of green.  Out in front, the porch base and steps have been finished.  The base now follows the same pattern as the roof.  The painting is now finished.

The current and final state of the painting is seen directly below.

I'll have a new piece to show you next week.  See you then.
