Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.602

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Cold Spring, NY scene. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I have continued to add prelimary layers of paint to the various elements of the painting. The house now has lit and shaded surfaces. A second layer of paint has been added to the sky. Next week I'll have something a bit more opaque than these early splashes of paint.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.601

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Cold Spring, NY scene. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I began by painting some defining lines in blue. These will help me keep things in focus as I move things along. Then I started to paint some preliminary color on most of the elements with the exception of the house itself. Next week, some paint of thicker consistency.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.600

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be starting a new painting. It is actually the other side of the Cold Spring, NY street scene that was the subject of the last project. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas

I started with a pencil grid on both a print of the photo and the canvas. In this way I was able to transfer the elements to the canvas in an accurate pencil sketch. I am pleased. Things are off to a good start.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.599

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Cold Spring, NY street scene. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 6x6 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I've made a number of changes for this week's cycle. Out in the street I've revised the two partial cars. Behind them the fence now actually looks like a traditional wooden fence, with just a suggestion of texture along with a new color. Note that the far section of the fence is in shadow. Behind the houses the trees have been overpainted along with the bushes out front. Those bushes along with the one behind the nearer house have revised highlights and shadows. The painting is now finished.

The current and final state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
