Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.476

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Cape May bungalow. The photo that I am using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on a tiny 6 inch by 6 inch gallery-wrapped canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

I've started to paint the body color of the house along with the details (doors and windows) on the porch. The doors and windows will eventually also reflect the shady lighting made by the roof and awning, but that's down the road a bit. I've also added some green to the trees seen above the roof. Now that most of the preliminary paint has been set down, I can start with some real definition for next week's cycle.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have a more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.475

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Cape May bungalow. The photo that I am using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on a tiny 6 inch by 6 inch gallery-wrapped canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

I started by painting some the lines of the main elements. The house and tree lines were done in a dark blue. I've applied the same color to the street. The two cars each received a layer of paint without any outlines. Note that these colors are just what were handy at the time and do not reflect what will appear in the final version.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have a more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.474

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be starting a new painting. This is another scene from Cape May, New Jersey. The photo seen directly below shows an old bungalow a couple of blocks from the beach. The painting will include the 2 Saabs seen at the curb. I will be using my usual acrylics on a tiny 6 inch by 6 inch gallery-wrapped canvas.

I started with a grid and began to sketch the scene. Note that the same grid is applied to the original photo. In this way, I can place all the elements as they are seen in the original photo. No paint yet but there will be plenty next week.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have a more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.473

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will continuing with the painting of the Goshen, New York house. The photo that I am using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on a tiny 4 inch by 4 inch gallery-wrapped canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

Note that this week's final photo (below) has saturated the colors just a bit. About that photo, the sky has received more paint. It is now more strongly yellow as well as the house. I have added the details of the gable ends. The base has been painted below the bay window on the first floor left. I've attempted to carry the shadows and highlights onto the windows from the siding. The painting is now done.

My experiment of painting with a fair amount of detail on a very small canvas seems to have worked out well. I'm pleased with the result and will definitely do another one sometime soon.

The current and final state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have a new painting to show you next week. See you then.
