Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.620

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be starting a new painting. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. It is a photo of Heritage House in Kanab, Utah. I've been there several times and have a number of photos. However, this is not my own photo. It's one I found that has much better shadows than any of mine. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

I started with a pencil grid on both a print of the photo and the canvas. In this way I was able to transfer the elements to the canvas in an accurate pencil sketch. Things are off to a good start.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.619

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Main Street, Cold Spring, NY painting. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

There are a number of changes for this week's cycle. I've now completed the steps, railing and low brick wall of the brick central building. Note the revised bush as well. On top, the dormer windows are now complete as is the partial building in the foreground. I've also revised the brick building's cornice and brackets below. Finally, the sky has been overpainted with a slightly mottled blue. The painting is now completed.

The current and final state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have a new painting to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.618

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Main Street, Cold Spring, NY painting. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

For this week's cycle I have continued to refine the mid section buildings. Note the shadowed portions of the turreted building. They have been overpainted with a thin white to achieve a soft slightly hazy effect. Next door, the brick building has a heavily revised entry. Note the steps and railing. I've added the bush and low brick wall and revised the shadow. The railing will need some further work. That's for next week.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.617

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the Main Street, Cold Spring, NY painting. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5x7 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

For this week's cycle I've spent some time refining the buildings in the mid and far sections. To the far rear, I've taken out the brown building and given things a vertical orientation. It seems more consistent with the foreground structures. In the mid range, I've added porch and railing details. These will require further work. Additionally, some of these details will be partially overpainted with plants seen in the photo.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I've continued to refine the buildings for this week's cycle. Note the repainted brick of the first full building. Further along the line, the turreted house now has new siding and a repainted porch. More distant structures have been revised as well.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
