Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.380

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the the painting of the vintage Hudson photograph. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on an 8x10 gallery wrapped canvas. The photo appears directly below.

When last seen, that painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I've continued to work on the body of the Hudson. After adding a layer of paint to the windows, I added the highlights on the black paint. Note that the inset body lenght crease along the sides is now defined by surrounding highlights. It is an important detail that I was worried about. Note also how the figure casts a shadow on the car. I've also addressed the tires, or at least I started to. The rear tire was difficult to place and size appropriately. I believe that I arrived at the right size and placement. In front, the tire will need much more work. That will hopefully been seen next week.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.

This is really looking good! It's starting to get that three-dimensional look to it. The shadows are particularly good. I agree, I think you got the back tire right. Amazing, how difficult it is to paint a simple circle!

Thanks Larry! That front tire will be a big challenge that I'm not looking forward to. And it is a very prominent element. Gotta get to it.
