Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.344

Hello again painting fans.

This week I'll be continuing with the Sedona, Arizona roadway scene. The photo that I am using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on an 10x10 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I've continued to work downward. That actually makes some sense as the elements toward the bottom are closer to the viewpoint and will therefore have the most detail. In all honesty, I did not plan for things to come in this order. It just happened.

I began by painting the basic shapes of the shops and restaurants seen in the photo. I will add other color and details later on. I've also cleaned the roadway and reshaped the median a bit. Most obvious, the forms of cars now inhabit the roadway. These too are only basic forms awaiting details to come. I've also revised the fence and flora seen to the right of the roadway.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

That's about it for now. Next week I'll have more progress to show you. See you then. As always, feel free to add photos of your own work in the comments section below.

Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.

Hah… the shops & restaurants look like a river that the road bends to run alongside. Kind of cool, actually, but definitely not real! :-D

Heh. A large river definitely would be unreal in that neck of the woods.
