Saturday Painting Palooza Volume 336 Celebration Edition

Hello again painting fans.

This week I'll be continuing with the painting of the Physick Estate in Cape May, New Jersey. It is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 12x12 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

There are many changes to be seen this week. In fact, with the changes I had intended and those than became necessary due to a mishap, much of the canvas has been repainted. Continuing my race to the bottom, I've now painted in the porch steps and perimeter plantings. Note that the plantings in front are mostly in shadow. Adjacent to the lefthand step is the simple railing seen in the original photo. Out front, the lawn and paths are now complete.

Along the way, I opened a tube of yellow paint to add a bit more highlight to the roof. It was only some time later that I noticed that small spots of yellow had splattered across the canvas. Thus began the great Physick Estate revision of 2012. I had to retouch parts of the windows, siding and roof. Note that it also became necessary to repaint most of the posts and windows of the closed in porch due to another mishap. Sigh.

Also repainted was the sky. (Sez Yoda) This was done when I noticed that portions of the lefthand roof needed slight reshaping. I then needed to match the small portion of changed sky color. The entire thing was done over. In fact, that really was the path of least stress.

Despite all of this, the painting is now done.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

That's about it for now. Next week I'll have a new painting to show you. See you then. As always, feel free to add photos of your own work in the comments section below.

Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.
