Saturday Painting Palooza Volume 291

Hello again painting fans.

This week I'll be continuing with the painting of the Pink House in Cape May, New Jersey. I will be using the photo seen directly below. I'm working on an 8x10 canvas in my usual acrylic paints.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

Though it may not be readily apparent, I've actually reworked most of the painting. I started by adding a layer of light blue paint over the porch posts and trim. This is to serve as the shadowed portion of the trim. The lit portions (yet to come) would be painted directly over parts of the blue in a bright white. I then added some blue-green paint to provide underpainting for the bushes.

I then went back and reconfigured the pink body color. Some of this pink became mixed in with white while reshaping the posts once again. This unintended result is actually rather appealing. I do like to embrace happy accidents but I'll have to carefully consider which in which direction this will go. I will (hopefully) have things worked out for next week.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

That's about it for now. Next week I'll have more progress to show you. See you then. As always, feel free to add photos of your own work in the comments section below.

Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.
