Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.201

Hello again painting fans.

This week's 200th installment will continue the painting of the 1949 Hudson. The photo that I'm using is seen directly below.

I'll be using my usual acrylics on an 8x10 canvas.

Seen in a period advertisement directly below is a similar Hudson.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I've continued to refine the background. The truck to the right and the boat to the left are now slightly darker than the wall behind them. This better differentiates these elements and pushes them forward a bit.

The Hudson has received considerable attention. The chrome has been given some of the the mottling seen in the photo. Highlights appear in white with blues providing shading and contrast. The headlights have been painted into their sockets. In this one respect I have diverged from the photo. I decided that the vacant sockets would have been a distraction. The windshield frame and steering wheel now peer from the shadows. Finally, the vintage Utah license plate has been painted below the grille.

The painting is now complete and appears in the photo directly below.

That's about it for now. Next week I'll have a new piece to show you. See you then. As always, feel free to add photos of your own work in the comments section below.

Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.
