Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.198

Hello again painting fans.

This week we'll be continuing with the painting of the 1949 Hudson.  The photo that I'm using is seen directly below.

I'll be using my usual acrylics on an 8x10 canvas.

Seen in a period advertisement directly below is a similar Hudson.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

I've been working on that rust color on the front end of the Hudson. It is a now seen in a more subdued shade achieved by adding a watery layer of brown and overlaying that with some watery white. It is now ready for the details seen in the photo.

I've also straightened out the lower grille. The full width chrome strip below the grille was rather uneven, even more so than the one seen in the photo. Below this strip, the two turn signals make their first appearance on either end. Above the grille, the famous Hudson badge also makes its first appearance.

Finally, the blue of the hood has received another layer and the panel gaps have been darkened.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

That's about it for now. Next week I'll have more progress to show you. See you then. As always, feel free to add photos of your own work in the comments section below.

Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.
