Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.353

Hello again painting fans.

This week I'll be continuing with the southern Arizona scene. The photo that I am using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on an 8x8 inch gallery wrap canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

This week's cycle will require a close examination to see the changes. I've actually reworked much of the canvas including the foreground and the cactus. Note that the base of the cactus is now contoured to depict the various branches of the canvas. Previously it was a straight line and made for a flattened appearance. It is now a bit more three dimensional. I've added blue to the base and extended it to the shadow extending to the left side. Note that the shadow has its own contours reflecting the branches above. As to the foreground, I've added a couple of layers of paint, first a bright orange and then a light brown. It has given a bit more depth but this area is far from complete. There will likely be more layers before I'm done.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

That's about it for now. Next week I'll have more progress to show you. See you then. As always, feel free to add photos of your own work in the comments section below.

Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.

The whole painting looks brighter, more "real," overall. Subtle but significant changes.
