Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.352
This week I'll be continuing with the southern Arizona scene. The photo that I am using is seen directly below. I'll be using my usual acrylic paints on an 8x8 inch gallery wrap canvas.
When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.
Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.
I concentrated my efforts on the cactus itself for this week's installment. I've added the shadows and highlights. (Note that the cactus' ground shadow is in need of further work.) I've utilized 3 colors, blue, green and a new bright yellow acquired specifically for this purpose. (Note that the photo darkens things a bit.) Blue adds the right side shadows, yellow the left side highlights. The green resides in the central portion of each branch. This application imparts quite a bit of color to the canvas. However, I'm not sure that I'm completely happy with it. But before I make any changes, I am going to paint in more of the background to see how things look. That will be for next week.
The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
That's about it for now. Next week I'll have more progress to show you. See you then. As always, feel free to add photos of your own work in the comments section below.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.

I especially like how the sun glows on the stalks on this week's phase.
Thanks Larry! Some additional work is needed in the weeks to come.
